Dangerous Friendships
Event Date
March 27 - 28, 2020
St. Paul Lutheran in Orange will be hosting their annual Men's Retreat in March - Scott Keith will be the featured speaker. The retreat is held at Forest Home Retreat Center, and registration is necessary - please contact the church directly for more information.
Dr. Scott will be speaking on the theme of friendship. Our grandfathers’ generation understood the importance of true male friendship. We long for the same. Why then do more than 2.5 million American men say they have no close friends? Friendship gives value to the day-to-day grind of life. We all need good friends and yet often we cannot say why.
Dr. Scott will speak on the countercultural idea of male friendship and why men need at least a few good friends. He will also explore how and why this friendship is a means by which we do good, by being little-Christs to each other, as we forgive one another in the name of Christ through true, male friendship.
Scott Keith is the Executive Director of 1517. He is a co-host of The Thinking Fellows Podcast and a contributor to 1517 and Christ Hold Fast. He is also the author of "Being Dad: Father as a Picture of God’s Grace." He earned his doctorate from Foundation House Oxford, under the sponsorship of the Graduate Theological Foundation, studying under Dr. James A. Nestingen.
