Anxiety (7)
  1. I think the problem with the idea of eternity is that we do not have any direct experience of it, but we encounter enough of its possibility to be unsettling.
  2. There is perhaps no better observation about the nature of anxiety and depression than its fundamental desire for avoidance.
  3. Jesus offers to the anxious soul the one thing it ironically wants: certainty of the good.
  4. God will keep his promises, but how he keeps them is often quite surprising.
  5. How we feel is so often conditioned upon what we are experiencing. Faith grabs hold of something outside our experience, something objective and true that is not changed by circumstance.
  6. God is always better than your imaginings. God is greater than your thoughts about God!
  7. You can see it far off, looming on the horizon, a thick fog menacing off the coast and swirling in the distance. You know the signs.
