  1. He’s the Grandpa who goes on and on about how delicious these mud pies are that we present to him. He laughs, honestly and sincerely, at our stupid jokes.
  2. We were created by our heavenly Father to receive all things from Him as free gift.
  3. If God is God, He doesn’t need anyone to defend Him. Nor does He need anyone to march for Him.
  4. Even a sinner who is crushed by the weight of her offenses, who feels in her bones the weight of judgment, shame, and doubt can expect to receive God's good word.
  5. The God whose Spirit hovered over the face of the dark, formless, void waters of the infant creation, now walks upon the waters of the sea like a boss.
  6. There is something odd about the definition of God as a being that than which nothing greater can be conceived.
  7. Far from being un-Christian like, the discipline and training that go into learning and practicing various martial arts can have direct application to the spiritual discipline needed for the Christian life of faith characterized by Israel.
  8. It was Jesus who appeared to Hagar, comforted her, and gave her the promise of future blessings. It was Jesus who came to her when it seemed everything and everyone else had let her down.
  9. The Word of God wrecked the room. The wise and seasoned pastor along with the smart mouth vicar were all silenced in the fear and awe of a God who can seem so absent at times.
  10. Read your life like a Hebrew, from the end to the beginning, and you will see that the last is first. The dead are alive, the cursed are blessed, the humble are exalted.
  11. The most powerless person in this story is the key to it all. God uses her who is nothing to effect everything.
  12. God the Father Almighty is good. And He must be good in ways that surpass my earthly father.
