Christmas (6)
  1. Solomon prays for grace, and he gets it, and it is not because he asked for it. It is because that is the kind of God he has, a gracious God, full of steadfast love and faithfulness even when we are not.
  2. God has the power to deliver His will, and He has done this for us in the grand exchange of a firstborn son on our behalf.
  3. It was because He wore all our ugliness and mockery on the cross that we have this great exchange.
  4. How would you respond in trust to the God who is with us? This is a perfect line of thinking on Christmas Eve as we behold the coming of Christ the King as the babe of Bethlehem who is our Emmanuel.
  5. The whole Old Testament leans with this unanswered and open-ended question at the end: Is he here yet?
  6. Christmas is a season of irony and song that helps us to know the sacred past and the truth of the Gospel of our salvation.
