Church Seasons (1081)
  1. Christ has come to make all things new, and water and the Spirit are used for His new creation just as it was for the original.
  2. . . . but the joke's on Herod. Joseph takes Mary and baby Jesus to refuge in Egypt, and all that happens in Matthew 2 is done in order to fulfill the prophecies of the Old Testament.
  3. Christmas-time is the bold proclamation that God was born to save sinners.
  4. God's Word is the final word on you, and his claim on you as his people, his children, is the ultimate claim.
  5. While you are comparing your presents and life to others, pour a Sidecar, turn off the Taylor Swift, and man up.
  6. We begin in ignorance and we end in ignorance. But, in the midst of our ignorance, Jesus is walking with us.
  7. Here is Paul’s repacking of the Christmas gift in terms of the personal and corporate implications of God so loving the world that He gave His only begotten Son.
  8. The receiving and/or possessing of a gift, even one from God, is far different than putting it to use.
  9. Truly wondrous is the whole chronicle of the Nativity. For this day the ancient slavery is ended, the power of death is broken, paradise is unlocked, the curse is taken away, sin is removed from us, error-driven out, and truth has been brought back.
  10. This story of despair met with the hope of the gospel is rightly told by many during the holiday season.
  11. King Herod's rule is threatened when the Magi come to worship the one born King of the Jews. But did they spill the beans?
  12. The child was sleeping deep within the manger, sod, & hay. His tiny cries raised a heavn’ly din, on this most sacred day.
