  1. If you are going to lose your life for the gospel’s sake, you must begin by hearing it.
  2. There is only one antidote to the venom of sin and death: the Savior who becomes the serpent so that every snake-bitten-sinner might live.
  3. Waiting on God can seem like slow motion torture sometimes.
  4. The fact is this: we all are going to die. Whether we are rich or poor, foolish or wise, we will all pass away.
  5. Part of the journey involves seasons of affliction, and during those times it is easy to feel separated from God, even rejected by our God
  6. At its heart, this is what Deacon King Kong is all about: the paradox of Jesus carving his victory out of the last thing we expect, not our triumphs but our defeats.
