Death of Christ (202)
  1. With Jesus, troubles and sorrows, problems and worries, heartbreak and mourning are gathered up like left-over crumbs from a feast marking the celebration of victory over the enemy's forces.
  2. Everyone is living as a naked sufferer who’s been duped into believing that the nakedness of suffering has to be covered up.
  3. Sin, death, and Satan may have had more than a puncher's chance to beat us, but when God stepped into the ring, they should have admitted defeat and thrown in the towel.
  4. By his initiative alone, he remakes our hearts to love him and others unselfishly.
  5. In Christ, we live beneath an open heaven having the definitive proof in the cross of Christ that God is outrageously for us, not against us.
  6. Absolution is the word God speaks to cause his sin-dead creation to live.
  7. When we come to God with our faithful obedience to make a case for our just cause, we expect to hear his deliverance in the form of a "yes."
  8. For those of us who recognize the disciples’ despair in ourselves, Jesus comes with the same word: “Relax, it’s me. Peace be with you.”
  9. What kind of shepherd does God provide? The answer, of course, starts and ends with Christ.
  10. Tomorrow Jesus will laugh his way out of the tomb, spit in the face of death, and kick the devil in the throat as he dances to the clapping glee of angelic masses. But today he just rests.
  11. You can’t bear your own sins, to say nothing of getting rid of them.
  12. The petition not to be led into temptation is found in just the right place within the seven petitions.
