Epiphany (10)
  1. Wonder at the God who speaks and at the actual words He speaks. Be willing to walk away with a limp as well as a blessing.
  2. This text provides an occasion for you to teach and proclaim a broader picture of “the Gospel” as God’s saving work.
  3. Despite Nathanael’s pedigree, he still needed to have Jesus revealed to him. Apart from the Spirit’s work in creating faith, Nathanael would have been lost.
  4. I hope your people expect and even demand this of you. But how we proclaim the central message, that can (and probably should) vary.
  5. Though it may feel to us like the darkness is winning, God’s Word reveals the darkness is waning. The Light of the world has come.
  6. When all the people had been baptized, when all the people had washed the filth of their sins into the water, Jesus went into the water to draw their sins unto Himself.
  7. Because we could never intuitively figure it out, God reveals Christ to us.
  8. The same Christ we proclaim to the people in our pews is the same Christ who is for those not in our pews.
  9. During this season of Epiphany, we experience more than the revelation of who Jesus is. We also celebrate how Jesus makes God fully known.
  10. Jesus turning water into wine calls for you to believe: To believe in Him.
