  1. The promise is trustworthy because God has proven Himself to be trustworthy.
  2. God’s justification of us does not happen secretly in our spirits. God justifies you and me in His absolving Word
  3. In Christ we are freed to be for our neighbor without fear of sin and damnation falling upon us.
  4. We demand that our Creator defend His judgment and justification of sinners in a courtroom where we are judge, prosecuting attorney, and jury.
  5. We focus on what we have, what we don't have, and how and when God is going to give us what we need. This the opposite of faith.
  6. One thing that makes John different than the other three Gospels is the absence of the Lord’s Supper.
  7. We get the exact opposite of what we deserve.
  8. We were created by our heavenly Father to receive all things from Him as free gift.
  9. She heard it before, but looking around she struggles to see how it matters.
  10. One of my favorite things to do in the summer is read out under the shade of my backyard tree. There, I have a reclining chair and small little side table.
  11. Abraham didn’t understand God very well (at least not early on). I don’t say that as a dig against the Patriarch. I don’t think any of us understand God very well either.
  12. Our goal is to proclaim the genuine good news—that’s what “Gospel” means—of Christ’s forgiveness for you. We do not offer you better tips, techniques or checklists. Instead, You Are Forgiven is sermons by faithful pastors who will clearly show how you cannot be forgiven by your own efforts, no matter how well you do on your homework, your checklist of tasks. But they will also show how you are actually and already forgiven because Jesus has done all that is needed, for you!
