God's Word (190)
  1. We may hear the voice of Jesus through recordings and digital media, but the Jesus who walks through locked doors has no problem coming to us through technology.
  2. We sing, and in so doing, we are blessed as we are instilled with the word of God in word and song.
  3. From all accounts, everyone in Nazareth would have just thought of Jesus as a very good boy who obeyed his parents and worked hard with his father as a tekton’s apprentice in the family trade.
  4. It is the words the pastor speaks that send the dead out alive.
  5. The real question we must ask about God’s will isn’t, “God, command us according to your will and we’ll do it,” but, “God, what are you willing to do for us who can’t do what you command?”
  6. We might not appreciate that God chooses to save us by his word alone, but our discomfort doesn’t make the promise any less effective.
  7. He will do it because God is the truth, and always deals with and in the truth.
  8. Jesus gave His disciples the Lord’s Prayer as a gift. It’s really our prayer when you think about it.
  9. Christ’s indwelling in the Christian must be tied relentlessly to these external and objective events of God’s own action.
  10. The distinction between Christ-for-you and Christ-in-you can present a misleading dichotomy.
  11. God is the only one who decides what we receive, when, and how it’s given to us.
  12. The Holy Spirit is not ours to hunt down; rather, we are the ones relentlessly pursued by the word of Christ.
