Good Works (104)
  1. Good works do not make a Christian, do not secure the grace of God and blot out our sins, they do not merit heaven.
  2. The Fellows talk about good works their necessity and imputation.
  3. This is an excerpt from “The Freedom of the Christian” written by Martin Luther and translated and edited by Adam Francisco (1517 Publishing, 2020).
  4. It is impossible to obtain grace and the forgiveness of sins in any other way, manner, or measure than by hearing the Word of God about Christ and by receiving it through faith.
  5. When man gives freedom it sometimes ends up being more confining. When man fights for equality it ends up being more oppressive. Repent and believe the Good News!
  6. "If we are led by the Spirit" . . . but where does the Spirit lead? He always leads us to Christ and His cross.
  7. Since Jesus has done everything we need for salvation, we can focus our works and efforts on serving our neighbor.
  8. Scott and Caleb are joined by pastor Bob Hiller to talk about his book Christ in the Straw. The book serves as a devotional commentary through James. Sit back, relax, grab a drink, and enjoy the show.
  9. We confuse salvation and vocation in our quest to determine who is in control of our salvation.
  10. Living sacrifices are holy and acceptable to God: What’s that look like? Redeemed and made new by Christ, we use the gifts God has given us to serve others and serve Him.
  11. The kingdom of Christ is realized where nothing but comfort and the forgiveness of sins reign not only in words to proclaim it, which is also necessary; but also in deed.
  12. We still think that if we just teach people to "be good" we are getting them closer to God, which is like saying if only this dead person could be propped up to exercise, he would start moving again.
