Gospel (792)
  1. The gospel gives us faith, hope, and love, all of which proceed from Christ’s death and resurrection.
  2. While it is true Jesus was much more than a teacher, it is equally true that He was nothing less, which suggests a sermon on this text might explore Jesus’ teaching ministry; both then and now.
  3. God often uses the ordinary to accomplish something extraordinary.
  4. We ourselves are both recipients of God’s grace as well as messengers sent with His word of grace for other people whom we encounter face to face, whether neighbors or close family members.
  5. This Good News which we cling to in hope is that, despite our restless and often fruitless seeking for meaning and belonging, God Himself sought us. God seeks, and God finds.
  6. Longstanding tradition must be bolstered by something outside of ourselves that also lies outside of the traditions of men.
