Grace (26)
  1. When surrounded by evil, it’s easy to think our doom is sure. How we can defend ourselves, how can we judge the wicked, especially when they seem so much smarter, stronger and more confident than us?
  2. Everyone is stained by sin. Who can stand before God? Who can dwell in His holy presence? Only the one who walks blamelessly.
  3. I finally climbed all 109 mountains. My journey began out of desperation, fueled by anger, fear, resentment.
  4. If I were granted three wishes, one of them would not be to know what the future holds.
  5. We tell our children if they work hard and play by the rules, they’ll succeed in life. Jerks, cheaters, and thieves won’t. They’ll end up in the gutter. Or jail. Or worse.
  6. Jesus cuts right to the chase when it comes to the evil one. He calls the devil “a liar and the father of lies,”
  7. If I were the devil, I wouldn’t just entice believers to do bad things. We’re experts at that anyway.
  8. Nothing is easier than making grace unamazing. Just do what comes naturally.
  9. Amazing grace is a sweet sound not just because it saved a wretch like me, but because it saved a whole wretched world like me.
  10. Jesus lives amidst the twisted metal and smoking ruins of lives gone bad. It’s where he does his best work. Christ is the ultimate first responder.
  11. Inside our heads is a courtroom where our whole lives are put on trial. And we are declared guilty of things. Big things, little things. God things, human things. True things, false things. We never can measure up.
  12. You became, for a time, ritually unclean. Not sinful. Not immoral. To be unclean meant you bore in your own body the effects of a creation in bondage to decay.
