  1. The notion that your goodness is “good enough” to make you right with God is a lie straight from the father of lies himself.
  2. Your justification isn’t a matter of “Jesus plus” anything.
  3. Both now and forever, the bruised and crucified Lord nailed to a cross is our assurance of deliverance.
  4. There is only one antidote to the venom of sin and death: the Savior who becomes the serpent so that every snake-bitten-sinner might live.
  5. To “trust in God in trial” means we fight our battles by kneeling and praying to “the Holy One of Israel,” who works out our deliverance by himself.
  6. The undercurrent of Scripture is the sheer fact that Jehovah God is a God of his word.
  7. There’s no possibility of understanding the grace of Romans 6 and the glory of Romans 8 unless you identify with the excruciating struggle of Romans 7.
  8. Our only hope in life and death is that God loves sinners, who fail and forget constantly, with a love that is just as constant.
  9. In the face of abject evil, these two faithfully cling to the words and truths of he alone who is Good, Jehovah God.
  10. The God who abundantly restores is still in the business of total restoration, even today. Even now the God of heaven restores dead sinners to life.
  11. Our Judge (the one who can condemn us) has become our Advocate (the one who doesn’t condemn us) because he is also our Substitute (the one who takes our condemnation).
  12. My one hope of not only entering a right relationship with God but also stepping into glory is the same: it’s Christ. It’s always Christ.
