  1. If I were granted three wishes, one of them would not be to know what the future holds.
  2. We tell our children if they work hard and play by the rules, they’ll succeed in life. Jerks, cheaters, and thieves won’t. They’ll end up in the gutter. Or jail. Or worse.
  3. What do Habakkuk and Israel have? Nothing but the word of God. Nothing but the promise of God. Nothing but God himself. They have the vision that Yahweh gives, the words of hope he utters. And that, amazingly, is enough.
  4. The Christian sees himself or herself as one just as guilty as the rest of the world. But we see ourselves not just as what’s wrong with the world, but in the One by whom the world has been redeemed.
  5. Jesus cuts right to the chase when it comes to the evil one. He calls the devil “a liar and the father of lies,”
  6. If I were the devil, I wouldn’t just entice believers to do bad things. We’re experts at that anyway.

  8. For on the other side of the death of forgiveness is the resurrection of joy. An easter in which we emerge from the tomb in the arms of the man whose scars glow with mercy.
  9. Don’t say you’re beyond hope, for there is not one beyond God. Don’t say you’ve done too much evil, for there is no wrong bigger than God’s heart of forgiveness.
  10. Nothing is easier than making grace unamazing. Just do what comes naturally.
  11. Let's face it, Christianity is not for everyone.
  12. Bring your black eyes and bruised hearts. Bring your criminal records and soiled pasts. Bring your same sex attraction and internet history. Jesus isn't afraid of your sin or your righteousness.
