Lectionary: Series B (547)
  1. Our hope of a joyful reunion with our loved ones who died confessing the name of Jesus is as sure and certain as the death and resurrection of Jesus.
  2. Jesus is the life of the people of God and, once more, at the empty doorway of His tomb He is the Word of everlasting life because He is not dead but alive forever.
  3. The faithful who gather for worship have heard and believed this promise, and they too are saved. But they need to hear it again.
  4. The Reformation not only uncovered the Good News of the Gospel, but it also put the Law of God back in its proper place in the life of the Church.
  5. Reformation Sunday is for celebrating not just one day memorializing an event 507 years ago. It is a celebration for every day because of our resurrected Jesus who is the truth we still stand on from Scripture alone.
  6. On this episode of Preaching the Text, John Hoyum and Steve Paulson discuss Paul's proclamation of justification by faith alone without works of the law as it comes to us in the third chapter of Romans.
