Lectionary: Series C (330)
  1. Solomon uses his new gift of wisdom immediately, but as he grows older he appears to use this gift less and less!
  2. As we continue to celebrate the mystery of the incarnation, this is a perfect moment to meditate on how the work of God “in Christ" unfolds in every moment of the life of Jesus of Nazareth.
  3. All the redeeming in God’s Word ultimately points to the first-born, only Begotten, who redeems the world.
  4. The text is not a legalistic set of principles. It is a description of the way things are for us, now that Christ has entered in.
  5. Luke does not say much else about Anna, especially in comparison to Simeon. But the fact that he mentions her suggests she has something to teach your hearers today.
  6. This Messiah is not a continuation—He is the fulfillment and the beginning of something new.
  7. The creation of this word reminds us that the Magnificat, like Christmas itself, is charged from the start with joy and praise.
  8. When Jesus assumes the body prepared for Him to do God’s will, the end of an old era has arrived, and with it, the beginning of a new.
  9. Waiting is not easy, but after waiting a long time, one would at least expect us to be ready when the time came.
