Love of God (209)
  1. What greater friend could we have than Jesus?
  2. In both Psalms, we hear the Messiah becoming sin for us, and thus he pleads on our behalf before the Father
  3. How does God feel about us sinners? God loves us so much that His stomach aches. His insides hurt. He refuses to let our sins separate us from Him. He refuses to let us die.
  4. Our Creator wants to restore us to a right relationship with him and all creation. So, in his goodness and mercy, he sent his Son to for us what we couldn't do for ourselves.
  5. There is a power that is stronger and mightier than the power of separation in death. And that power is the power of God’s love for you and me.
  6. “Who Am I?” edited by Scott Ashmon (1517 Publishing, 2020) is now available for purchase.
  7. That is the good news that ifies all hand wringing and wipes away every tear from every eye.
  8. Love is to be the interpreter of law. Where there is no love, these things are meaningless, and law begins to do harm.
  9. Love for our neighbor can be taxing. We may even decide it’s not worth the cost. But in this moment I found a blessed reminder of how different God's love is, and how our value rests in Christ alone.
  10. We already know how the war will conclude. Jesus wins.
  11. Justice and love are united in God, and we see this most clearly in Jesus on the cross. There, both God's hatred toward sin and compassion for the world come together.
  12. We must also remember that our enemy is a creature of God. He is someone for whom Christ Jesus died. He is a sinner just like any other, no more or less selfish than us.
