  1. She wasn’t so much giving up on her husband as giving up on herself. She was giving up trying to be the person who changes another person. It was going to take more than her to reform the man she loved.
  2. Their love story was a long time in coming. He was 82 and she 74. And this was the first, and the last, marriage for both.
  3. Life is too short to dream big dreams. They tend to devour everything that gets in their way, including family.
  4. But one key theme that kept surfacing again and again was love: Jesus loved people, the Church showed me genuine love, and above all, God’s love in Christianity is unconditional.
  5. Yes, how good it is for you to have enemies, for without them, when would you ever have the opportunity to fulfill, joyfully and willingly, the law of Christian love?
  6. Thank you for all you do to encourage me, pray for me, and remind me of the grace of Christ which forms the foundation of all I write.
  7. The flower of youth, as lovely as it is, cannot withstand the hot winds of time. There is a beauty, however, that remains.
  8. One thing is for certain: my day was heaven compared to his. My minor headaches nothing compared to whatever he was going through.
  9. Being a Christian is hard because it’s easy.
  10. I have my list. It may seem strange to you, but, when I think about my own death, I often think in terms of positive failures.
  11. For many, there are days when they’re as excited about going to work on Sunday morning as you are about going to work on Monday morning.
  12. When God is at work, oftentimes the best activity is non-activity, the best speech is non-speech. Sometimes God wants us to shut up.
