New Testament (43)

  2. Unity is not our work, but a gift granted in the one baptism and one calling which comes from the one Spirit of the one Lord from the one Father over everything.
  3. Paul’s prayers for his beloved Ephesians do not focus so much on their physical or social well-being, but on the most important thing: That they know and love Christ Jesus!
  4. All humanity is bound to sin and dead in their trespasses, but Christ’s blood was shed for the lot of us!
  5. In my experience, no theological topic causes more existential angst than the truth that God has predestined people for salvation. When such a weighty doctrine is broached, what is a preacher to do?
  6. God will use the thorns and Satanic agents, as opposed to spiritual exercise programs, to fix our eyes on Jesus, not to move past Him.
  7. The Church’s suffering will bring with it a stronger faith in Christ and a bolder proclamation to a world in need of the life Christ alone can give.
  8. Our righteousness, along with Father Abraham’s, is found in the dying and rising of Jesus Christ, whom God promised to Abraham and has given for us all.
  9. God is most glorified in the sending of Jesus to be the Savior of sinners.
  10. Hebrews reminds us you cannot “be the church” unless you go to church.
  11. The emphasis for All Saints Sunday is not on the saints, but the Sanctifier, Jesus Christ.
  12. Are we still haunted by God? Do our sins bother us to the point that we worry about God’s righteous wrath? Does the concept of justification, how one can be right in the eyes of God, even cross our minds?
