Preaching (138)
  1. God could kill or make alive, or He could wound or heal. Mercifully and thankfully His choice was life.
  2. God puts Himself on trial in order to demonstrate to His people that He is their only qualified deliverer.
  3. The first Exodus for God’s people was from Egypt. The second Exodus is for the exiles in Isaiah. The greatest Exodus would be for all people with Jesus.
  4. The question is: Who is the watchman? By whose blood are we accounted for as righteous before God?
  5. Grace is God’s attitude towards sinners; not holding their sins against them but relenting from the Law’s just judgement and giving the undeserved Gospel instead.
  6. Nothing is sweeter or more nourishing than Jesus Christ, the fulfilled promise of God for us.
  7. Moses has a Second Commandment issue. Here you have an incredibly faithful guy who fails just once and is, therefore, barred from the promise.
  8. A dead son is found alive and through reconciliation God’s salvation changes everything for the brothers and for the entire world.
  9. Those who trust in the Lord are not anxious when drought comes because they have the roots that run deep from the tree into which they have been transplanted.
  10. God’s holiness is both law and gospel. His holiness not only threatens sinners, but it also makes them holy by the forgiveness of sins.
  11. Jeremiah is purely passive in our passage and only receiving. This is the perfect spot to be in when you are receiving God’s Word.
  12. For those who have wandered away from the community of the faithful, coming back can be filled with both fear and joy, both shame and redemption. Our text for today is no exception.
