  1. The faithful who gather for worship have heard and believed this promise, and they too are saved. But they need to hear it again.
  2. Reformation Sunday is for celebrating not just one day memorializing an event 507 years ago. It is a celebration for every day because of our resurrected Jesus who is the truth we still stand on from Scripture alone.
  3. More than Jesus being justified by His deeds, Jesus justified by His deeds. The deeds and work of His life actually justify and convey righteousness.

  5. If a key part of the Reformation was placing God’s Word back into the hands of the people in a clear, understandable way, then John of Ragusa can be called a “Prometheus” in his own right.
  6. When the Reformers read the Bible (especially when studied in the original languages), they found a God who was gracious and merciful for the sake of Christ.
  7. The phrase “works of the law” has an antithesis when it comes to righteousness—faith. What keeping the Law could not do, the gift of faith does.
