Sacraments (14)
  1. In the liturgy, Christ is present, self-giving, and ever-addressing his people.
  2. The liturgy ensures that the gospel is never something inward, merely a thought or sentiment of the believer.
  3. God comes to us through the flesh and blood and spirit of Christ precisely where he promised to be manifest to us and for us.
  4. Only the resurrection of Jesus guarantees and facilitates divine presence and love to us as divine life for us.
  5. The resurrection of Jesus encompasses the total and comprehensive glorification of a human being, not merely his restoration.
  6. Christ Jesus brings his word and presence to where you are and he is even willing to do so through the likes of your personally present pastor.
  7. Maundy Thursday is your big night. For the Passover Lamb is given for you, given to you.
  8. We don't make Church "happen." Only Christ can do so. It's his happening.
  9. By making a big deal of every baptism, of every confirmation, of every rite of matrimony, the Church takes a stand against the intrusion of consumerism, secularism, identity politics, subversive subcultures, gender dysphoria, and the like.
  10. Christ is present in the pure preaching of the gospel. And if Christ is present, then we have entered into the domain of the sacraments.
  11. Ascertaining the what and how of the Church greatly factor into the very purpose of the Church, that is, they essentially answer the question why the Church?
  12. Preaching is the vehicle of salvation because God engages in self-giving through the heralding of His Word.
