  1. The communion service is a sermon in and of itself. The communion sermon is that which most expressly tells us of the sinless One who stands in the sinner’s stead.
  2. The 'church' is neither your mega-complex nor is it you alone with your own private devotions.
  3. The Holy Spirit keeps us in faith and pours us out into the world so others may also hear and believe.
  4. While the Holy Spirit does work within us, He always comes to us from the outside, through the external Word and Sacraments.

  11. But when we trust Jesus, then we close our eyes to it all and say, “Heavenly Father, I’m your child.
  12. The only sea of tranquility that can unite God and man and bring brotherhood among us is found in the Word and sacraments.
