  1. We’ve hung on every whisper of hope that this way of life would end and a new one would rise to take its place.
  2. Christian peace is not the absence of problems, but it is the presence of God amid our pain and sorrows.
  3. The well-meaning advice “time heals all wounds” is offensively false when we confront the overwhelming evidence that the constants in our lives are death, taxes, and suffering.
  4. "Come to me, all you who are weary of being you, and simply be mine."
  5. In a year where things are unclear, tensions are heartbreaking, and uncertainty is rampant, what can we be thankful for?
  6. God’s love does not have an off switch. You cannot earn it or deserve it. And your thankfulness for it will not determine if you get it or not.
  7. Life will not go as planned nor as we would hope, but "God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us."
  8. Jesus overcame sin, death, and Satan on the cross. His bloody suffering and death marked this sinful world's defeat.
  9. This earth is not the place where your promise is to be found. Rejoice because the kingdom of God comes to you!
  10. Using agricultural images, the Psalmist speaks of suffering and the persecutions that Israel endures.
  11. Jesus will strengthen and encourage us because he is true life, and life has defeated death.
