Two Kingdoms (72)
  1. From the city begun by Mad Anthony in 1794, some mad preachers carry on the revolutionary spirit with some spirited talk about submitting to murderous immoral pagan emperors.
  2. A shelter from pigs on the wing... In this episode, how do Christians interface with a godless state, love our neighbors without being complicit in promoting sin, and maintain the tension between the two kingdoms?
  3. You Know Who Else Misunderstood The Kingdom of God? Hitler! In this episode, we read Herman Sasse’s 1930 essay on The Social Doctrine of the Augsburg Confession and its Significance for the Present. We discuss the two kingdoms doctrine, peoples’ station in life, and the need for public discussions of natural law.
  4. We asked Dr. Steven Paulson when the end of the world would be… He said it already happened and we missed it! But that’s Ok, Jesus invites you into it! Perk up your ears and give us listening to.
  5. The following is an adaptation from "Law and Gospel in Action" written by Mark Mattes (1517 Publishing, 2019).
  6. This new life is marked not by fear of death but hope in eternal life.
  7. We subject ourselves to the governing authorities for the sake of our neighbor, that they might be protected from our sinful nature that seeks our advantage over theirs (and vice versa)
  8. Cast your vote with an air of bold and defiant levity. Don’t take yourself, or this election, so seriously. No string of unfortunate events can stop Christ's beating heart of mercy. No politician can un-Easter our Lord.
  9. Elections and presidents and politics and voting. Repent and believe the good news! Everything will be ok.
  10. We vote because we are citizens, and it is our duty. We serve our neighbors in love because it is our Christian calling.
  11. No good will come to the cause of the Gospel by followers of Jesus being regarded as crazy dissidents who will not cooperate with the most basic social mechanisms.
  12. How big can you build your cross? Or maybe that's not what Jesus wants from his followers. I guess you should listen to find out...
