Work of Christ (118)
  1. Isaiah speaks to our time. He speaks to our rejoicing now and an anticipated joy-filled future. Christ’s coming, Christmas, brings them both.
  2. This book is for people who want to get serious about the church. It’s for pastors who are sick and tired of surfing the latest wave or jumping from one program to the other.
  3. The Son of God is still God the Son in the Incarnation.
  4. Martha’s pain is not met by a to-do list. Jesus’ reply is not that she should try harder or change her behavior
  5. God has in fact executed his plans for his people, plans of peace (probably a better translation than welfare), a future, and a hope in Jesus Christ.
  6. The goal of language in the mouth of a Christian isn’t to hold power for ourselves but to give it.
  7. Living in Hope
  8. The essence of sin is man substituting himself for God, while the essence of salvation is God substituting himself for man.
  9. We do not live in the greatness of our own deeds. We boast in the greatness of one deed that God himself has done through Jesus Christ on the cross.
