This is a special crossover episode with Kelsi Klembara from the podcast: "Outside Ourselves." Kelsi is also the online content manager for 1517 and mother to 3 kids. She holds an MA in Reformational Theology from Concordia University Irvine.

We talk about the Advent season, and the three parts of Christ coming: coming to us in the incarnation, coming to us in word and sacrament, and coming again at the end of time.

We talk about consoling one another with the gospel during this season, and focusing on the promises of God--what has happened, what is happening, and what will happen.

We talk about experienced waiting in this season, how theologians connect it to the end times, and living in the season of patience.

We talk about the tension between preparation and waiting, and how the reformation pivoted the church's view of Advent from preparation to waiting.

We talk about the connection between Advent and birth. (This episode was recorded just before Kelsi gave birth to her daugher.)

We talk about the value of the Advent season, and impact that making space for these thoughts and considerations built into this church season helps us love our neighbors.
