Easter (356)
  1. This is the first installment in our series, From Eden to Easter: Life and Death in the Garden. Each day throughout Holy Week, we will take a special look at the gardens and wildernesses of Scripture, and in particular, these scenes' connections to Christ's redemption won for us on the cross.
  2. Reluctant as they undoubtedly were, the soldiers were the first witnesses who spread word that Jesus, who had been crucified, dead, and buried, was now alive and on the move.
  3. Every earthly kingdom meets its end. All empires crumble and fall. But from the beginning, the kingdom of God, which Christ would rule, was said to be eternal.
  4. The one who believes has the Spirit, the water, and the blood literally within himself, bearing witness to the individual that Jesus is the risen and ruling savior of the world.
  5. The tree of Calvary gives life which is seen in Jesus resurrected from the dead. Blessed are those who find their life and rest in Him.
  6. As we gather between the Ascension and Pentecost, we remember what Jesus is doing. He is praying for us.
  7. The profound significance of Christ’s resurrection comes from the threefold justification it provides: it justifies the sinner, the sinner’s hope, and God himself.
  8. On this episode of Preaching the Text, John Hoyum and Steve Paulson discuss Christ's prayer to the Father before his betrayal and crucifixion. In this prayer, we overhear the Son's address to his Father in love.
  9. But the Church is not built on human love. That would be much too small for God. No, the Church is built on God’s love and God’s love is different.
  10. During the Easter season, our redemption as Christians is proof that God, in Christ alone, is all our righteousness and strength.
