Eschatology (196)
  1. We long for the Great Thanksgiving that hasn’t happened yet.
  2. In many ways [this text] brings to mind Judgement Day and the separation of the sheep from the goats when Christ the King comes to take His treasured possession home to be with Him in the courts of everlasting life.
  3. The epistle text from Colossians 1 declares how the great drama of redemption and human history ends.
  4. It is in the midst of a world marked by empty and deceptive hopes that have broken hearts and lives that we are sent to deliver the promise of a future that has as its last chapter the resurrection of the body to eternal life with the Lamb who was slain but is alive forevermore.
  5. Through the means of grace, Christ grants us a share in all the blessings of this ancient hope.
  6. We were lost. We didn’t know where we were going or which way to turn. We had been driving around in circles for hours with nothing to show for it. And now we weren’t sure how to find our way home - and losing hope by the minute.
  7. If the resurrection were just a repetition of this world, then it would be ridiculous, indeed. But the resurrection is different. It is a world without death.
  8. As our first parents had a bond with the animals, as Noah had animals with him in the reboot of creation after the flood, so after this old creation comes to an end, we will enjoy a new creation that includes animals.
  9. It is freezing, and I am stunned. I had learned about homelessness in school and seen it in movies but to see the way the Mole People lived.
  10. Stop and be enveloped by the unending grace of Christ and his beautiful teachings that touch every corner of life.
  11. I had been taught and believed in a God who is love, but as I walked outside that night I did not see him. I saw the stars and I felt their indifference.
  12. In this episode we have a conversation about the new earth!
