  1. The story being told in the film is not Bonhoeffer’s story. It’s not the Confession Church’s story. Nor is it the story of the German resistance against Hitler. It is a completely fictional story of Hollywood.
  2. Jesus will return in glory to bring the fulfillment of God’s grace to all. Until that time, however, we are given one day in the life of Jesus and comforted by the multi-faceted nature of God’s grace.
  3. There is no one — not now, not ever — who cannot be included in the family of God through the efficacy of Christ’s saving power.
  4. Jesus, the true Bridegroom, erases that mistake by his own compassionate, saving act. Isn’t this also a picture of the gospel?
  5. After setting aside the written Word of God, the Word of God in flesh began to open His mouth to proclaim the spoken Word.
  6. "When God has his say, have confidence that his Word and sacraments bestow precisely what he says."
  7. He was invited like all the other guests. The hosts simply wanted Him to be part of the happy crowd. They got more than they asked for.
  8. Luke tells us John “preached good news to the people.” Really? “Good” news?
