  1. Indeed, Jesus has come to rule the nations, but He will do this by submitting to His Father’s will, not Satan’s.
  2. Jesus came not to overwhelm us with His majesty but to touch us with God’s love.
  3. For Jesus to be enforcing God’s Law seems strange to some people today, and it would have seemed strange to some people back then.
  4. God has the power to take that which is small, that which is overlooked, that which is despised, and use it to create something wonderful.

  7. In this context where death looms large, Jesus reveals a kingdom where life looms even larger.
  8. The tragedy of this parable is not the failure to serve. It is the failure to truly know your Savior.
  9. The parable is harsh. It judges. If you do not believe, you will not be saved. But let us pause for a moment and think about why Jesus is telling the parable.
  10. Jesus breaks through our barriers in His beatitudes. He shatters our conceptions of the blessed life and opens the Kingdom of God to all people.
  11. Jesus invites us to practice a faith that is bold. He invites us to trust in Him, without calculations.
  12. Imagine a world where love is given to the least. That is what Jesus is inviting His disciples to do in His parable this morning.
