Mercy (67)
  1. Jesus not only desires mercy, but gives mercy. Our sacrifices will never satisfy the demands of the Law, but Christ's sacrifice for us gives all the holiness the law requires.
  2. Jesus did not need a single act of mercy to get him started on the road to mercy, his essence was by nature merciful.
  3. “Poverty of spirit” is not an ethical value we strive for. It is an act of God’s mercy spoken to the deepest recesses of our soul when it’s overwhelmed by God’s grace.
  4. For God to shine his face upon us is the same as saying, “Christ Jesus is with us.”
  5. As human beings, we usually think that mercy should have limits; that it should never exceed its confines. This attitude is rooted deeply in the human heart.
  6. We are given, so we give thanks, and we give thanks by giving.
  7. Meanwhile our heroine, mild-mannered Ruth, gathers the gleanings to provide for her mother-in-law. But who is this mysterious God-sent stranger?
  8. Ruth shows grace to Naomi. Boaz shows grace to Ruth and Naomi. And God is behind the scenes, working grace to all.
  9. No matter how great our thirst is, God's abundance not only meets it but quenches it. When we are poor and in need, the Lord is always there to give us grace and mercy without end.
  10. When man gives freedom it sometimes ends up being more confining. When man fights for equality it ends up being more oppressive. Repent and believe the Good News!
  11. One day at a time, God provides us with a heart of wisdom, and in this way, our Lord teaches us to number our days.
  12. We trust God's Word because Jesus never fails us. He is our daily comfort when struggles and afflictions find us.
